Assistant Professor, Finance/Financial Economics

University of Toronto Mississauga

Qualified applicants must have a PhD in the area of Finance or Financial Economics or a closely related field by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter. Demonstrated mastery in theory, empirical or experimental research methods is required, as well as evidence of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths: http://www.utm.utoronto.ca/management/. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative, independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program. Evidence of excellence in research is demonstrated through the quality of the job market paper, top-quality working papers, publications in top-ranked finance journals or a research pipeline that is at high international levels, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. Evidence of excellence in teaching is demonstrated through teaching accomplishments (e.g. awards, recognition, new course and curriculum development), strong letters of reference and the teaching dossier including a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations, sample course syllabi and other teaching materials submitted as part of the application.

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member of the Department of Management at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) and cross-appointed to the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management.

The successful candidate will be part of a strong culture of graduate and undergraduate management education, research, and doctoral training through some of the following programs: PhD; Master of Biotechnology (MBiotech); Master of Forensic Accounting (MFAcc); Master of Management of Innovation (MMI); Master of Management & Professional Accounting (MMPA); Master of Science in Sustainability Management (MScSM); B.Com., BBA and HBA (Management).
