Our Geography
Brock University’s Teacher Education Program is located on two campuses. The main campus is situated atop the Niagara Escarpment, within a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, overlooking the city of St. Catharines, in the heart of Niagara wine country. Brock University’s second campus is in the City of Burlington, with ready access to the surrounding city and the QEW.
Brock University’s main campus is situated on land which is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples, many of whom continue to live in work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Agreement. About the Position
The Faculty of Education invites applications for an Instructional Limited Term Appointment in the Department of Educational Studies in French Education in the Junior/Intermediate/Senior Teacher Education Program. This position involves teaching French Education pedagogy across both divisions (JI and IS). The one (1) year appointment, subject to budgetary approval, will commence July 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will be fluent in both written and spoken French Language and hold a doctorate in Educational Studies, Curriculum Studies, or French. Doctoral candidates in the above areas who are ABD may be considered. Experience with French education in Ontario including the Immersion, Extended and FSL curriculums and teaching French at the J/I and I/S level is essential. Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is required. Experience as a curriculum leader and/or school administrator will be considered assets.
Preferred candidates will have: (1) experience in university teaching and curriculum development in face-to-face and blended learning environments, particularly in French education pedagogy; (2) experience teaching at the Junior/Intermediate/ and Senior levels;
(3) evidence of strong connections with French Education and Francophone organizations both provincial and local, as well as local school boards; and (4) leadership experience. An OCT certification is desirable.
The successful candidate will teach and lead the French instructor team for both junior/intermediate and intermediate/senior courses and may be required to teach additional courses in the Teacher Education Program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to decolonization, reconciliation, anti-racism, and social and ecological justice issues within teacher education preservice learning contexts in course design, research endeavours, and teaching. They may be eligible to teach a limited number of sections in other programs including the M.Ed, but will not be eligible for Doctoral or Masters supervision as the main supervisor.
