Assistant Professor in Exercise Physiology

The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health at The University of Winnipeg invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Subject to budgetary approval, this position will commence July 1, 2019. Salary levels will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The University of Winnipeg, primarily an undergraduate liberal arts institution, has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence and research. The Department serves students pursuing a major in Kinesiology and Applied Health, including streams in Athletic Therapy, Coaching, Exercise Science, as well as students wishing to teach Physical and Health Education in the school system. Candidates will have earned a PhD with expertise in exercise physiology before the start of the appointment. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, and will demonstrate strong potential for an active research program in clinical or applied exercise physiology.
Candidates should have a specialization in the area of cardiovascular, cardiorespiratory or neuromuscular physiology, and will ideally have experience with special populations such as: individuals with, or at risk for, chronic disease; indigenous, low socio-economic-status, or other under-represented populations in health research; or sport/high performance. Although not required, status as a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology is an asset.
The successful candidate will teach courses that primarily support the Department’s exercise science program, including undergraduate courses in exercise sciences, physiology, and anatomy. They would also be expected to establish and maintain an active research program and apply for external research funding. As well, the successful candidate will participate in departmental and university service, and will work cooperatively and collegially with fellow department members.
