Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) Director of Bands and Instrumental Conducting

The successful candidate must hold at least a master’s degree in music and have a proven professional track record as a band director at the post-secondary level. A finished doctorate (DMA, Ph.D., DMus) is preferred. Graduate teaching experience is also an asset.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: selecting repertoire, conducting rehearsals, and providing a variety of performance opportunities for the University of Regina Wind Ensemble and the University of Regina Concert Band; establishing and maintaining local and national recognition and networks as a band conductor; and teaching courses in instrumental conducting. The ability to teach in an applied area, is also an asset.
Candidates will be expected to develop a strong working relationship with local and provincial high school teachers, and to develop a recruitment strategy for the band programme. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to departmental, faculty and University service relative to the position, and be an active member of our university and external community. Knowledge of, and experience with, the Regina and southern Saskatchewan band community is an asset.
