Assistant Professor - Tenure Track Position - Faculty of Nursing, UPEI

Tenure‑track appointment at the Assistant Professor level is available in the Faculty of Nursing.
The successful candidate will be grounded in the principles of Primary Health Care and will contribute to teaching across undergraduate and graduate programs. Responsibilities include active participation in faculty governance, decision‑making, and scholarly activities through service on standing committees. The candidate is expected to develop and sustain a strong program of research, secure external funding, and engage both undergraduate and graduate students in research initiatives.
The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) offers the province’s only baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs. Qualifications
Candidates must hold a completed doctoral degree or demonstrate significant progress toward completion, along with at least one degree in nursing. Demonstrated experience teaching in an academic setting is required. Candidates must also have an established record of scholarly research and publication that reflects collaboration, community engagement, and involvement of undergraduate and graduate students.
Applicants must demonstrate leadership and experience fostering respectful and inclusive learning and working environments for students, staff, Clinical Nursing Instructors, and faculty. Eligibility for registration with the Prince Edward Island College of Nursing and Midwifery is required.
If a doctoral‑prepared candidate is not identified, applicants with a master’s degree in nursing (or a related field) and strong potential for scholarly development may be considered for a term appointment. In such cases, demonstrated ability to develop a program of research and contribute to nursing education, practice, knowledge, and curriculum development is essential.
Salary and terms are as per the UPEI Faculty Association (Bargaining Unit #1) Collective Agreement. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
