The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Ontario Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor/Associate Teaching Professor in the area of Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering.  The position is expected to start July 2026, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a strong academic background and an established record of excellence in teaching.  Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in mechatronics, electric circuits, and electronics. The candidate must be registered as a Professional Engineer, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer, in Ontario or another Canadian province. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. 

Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. In addition, a proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies is required as is evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment.  Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff and students are essential.

Duties will include preparing and delivering lecture and tutorials, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations, amongst other duties.  

The successful candidate will be expected to follow an 70% teaching, 20% service, and 10% Other workload each year. 

The Faculty offers honour undergraduate degrees in offers undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering, as well as seven other engineering programs.  Further details about the Faculty can be found at: engineering.ontariotechu.ca.
 

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
