The Department of Statistics invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Instructor I, commencing September 1, 2026, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position has a 2 year probationary appointment. In accordance with Article 34.5 of the UM‑UMFA Collective Agreement, the successful candidate will be appointed for an initial probationary period and will be reviewed annually. Subject to satisfactory performance and institutional requirements, the probationary appointment may lead to a continuing appointment.

The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development. The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Statistics or a closely related discipline; a PhD degree (completed or in progress) will be considered an asset. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience, as well as to those with knowledge and experience with statistical software and educational technologies. Duties will include undergraduate teaching (including live lecture, online and distance delivery formats), pedagogical/course development and assessment, multi-section course coordination and service-related activities. The ideal candidate will have a track record of outstanding teaching contributions and evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
