Limited Term Appointment in Art Therapy, Department of Creative Arts Therapies

Position Description
The Department of Creative Arts Therapies in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, invites applications for a 24-month Limited Term Appointment in Art Therapy. Limited-term Faculty members at Concordia are full-time faculty members whose primary duties include teaching and service, with no research obligations.

Qualifications and Assets
The Department of Creative Arts Therapies is seeking candidates who demonstrate an authentic commitment to equity and social justice and to the development and integration of innovative art therapy and health promotion initiatives within all aspects of their teaching, service, clinical, and advocacy endeavours. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses within our art therapy graduate program; supervise graduate students in clinical work; participate in the annual art therapy admission process; support program development; serve on departmental committees; and perform administrative duties. Other responsibilities include practicum coordination, which involves oversight of practicum sites and graduate student placements as well as the provision of support for practicum supervisors.

Candidates must have, at minimum, a completed MA in Art Therapy. Professional certification as a Registered Art Therapist is required: Registered Canadian Art Therapist (RCAT from Canadian Art Therapy Association), Art Therapist Registered (ATR from Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc.), or Art Therapist Registered-Board Certified (ATR-BC from Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc.). Candidates must provide evidence of extensive clinical experience and expertise as an art therapist working with a range of clientele in various settings. Also required is evidence of effective supervision of art therapy graduate students in clinical work. Other required qualifications include demonstrated evidence of, or potential for:

• Outstanding contributions to teaching art therapy courses at the graduate level
• Outstanding contributions to the field of art therapy and to collaborative community and university service activities
• Intentional integration of social justice principles, such as equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in teaching and supervision

Other assets include:
• A completed PhD (or a PhD near completion)
• Holding a Quebec psychotherapist permit or provincial/state equivalent
• Holding certification as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC)

Candidates are encouraged to share any career interruptions or personal circumstances that may have had an impact on their career goals in their letter of application. Concordia University is an English-language institution of higher learning at which the primary language of instruction and research is English. Since this position supports academic functions of the university, proficiency in English is required. As this position will support francophone practicum sites in Montreal and Quebec, an intermediate proficiency in spoken and written French is also required.
