Position Profile: 

The Ivey Business School at Western University invites applications for a Limited Term (LT) appointment at the rank of Lecturer or above in the Finance Group. This is a non-tenure-track position; the initial appointment is for a three-year term and is renewable.

The successful applicant will be a teaching-focused member of the Finance Group whose central responsibility is excellent classroom teaching across Ivey’s degree programs. Using Ivey’s signature case-method approach, the successful applicant will teach required finance core courses and electives at the undergraduate (HBA), master’s (MSc, MBA), and executive (EMBA) levels, with assignments spanning topics such as Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, Derivatives, Value Investing, Fintech, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Private Equity. Beyond the classroom, the successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing improvement of the finance curriculum, including course and materials design, the adoption of pedagogical innovations and teaching technologies (with special focus on the consequences/impact of AI for classroom teaching and assessment design), and case writing, and will participate in service at the School and/or Group level. The successful applicant will engage collegially and collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff across the Ivey community.

 

Academic Expectations:

The successful applicant will be an academically grounded, teaching-focused finance educator who brings both disciplinary depth in finance and a scholarly approach to teaching practice. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver rigorous, current, and pedagogically effective finance instruction across Ivey's degree programs, contribute to the ongoing academic development of the finance curriculum, and engage actively with the scholarship of teaching and learning as it applies to finance education. 

Qualifications or Experience Required: 

A completed master’s degree in finance or a related field is required. 

Teaching

• Demonstrated ability to integrate finance industry practice into classroom teaching (e.g., through prior industry experience, applied consulting or advisory work, executive teaching, or industry-connected case development)
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness across one or more finance courses and program levels (e.g., strong student evaluations, teaching awards, or peer/supervisor assessments).
• Breadth of finance subject-matter expertise sufficient to teach the required finance core and electives in areas such as Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, Derivatives, Value Investing, Fintech, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Private Equity.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in course and curriculum design (e.g., developing new courses, course materials, or program content adopted or sustained beyond initial delivery).
• Demonstrated commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning, including reflective pedagogical practice, engagement with pedagogical innovation and teaching technologies, and continuous improvement of teaching effectiveness.
• Demonstrated readiness to teach using Ivey's signature case-method approach and to contribute to case-based curriculum and materials development.

Service

• Demonstrated record of service contribution in an academic or comparable professional setting (e.g., committee work, program coordination, student engagement, or equivalent institutional service).

Disciplinary Group Profile: The Finance area group is vibrant and collegial, where faculty have diverse research and teaching interests. The group hosts several research seminars during the academic year, and the faculty actively collaborate with one another in their research and teaching endeavors. The current faculty conduct research in corporate finance, financial intermediation, asset pricing, and fintech, amongst other areas. At present, the faculty teaches across all levels and programs at the Ivey Business School.
