Position Profile:

The Managerial Accounting and Control Group is recruiting a Limited Term faculty colleague. The initial Limited Term appointment will be for three years, beginning on July 1, 2027, with the possibility of renewal. The successful applicant will engage primarily in teaching. Teaching capabilities and competencies are expected in accounting courses at an introductory, intermediate and/or advanced level in the areas of financial and managerial accounting across Ivey degree, diploma and certificate programs. Contributions to service are expected from a subset of the following: disciplinary area group, business school, university, profession, academic field. Across teaching, research and service, members of the Managerial Accounting and Control Area Group thrive on collegiality, collaboration and support of each other, and as such, are keen to select a candidate with these shared values. 

Academic Expectations:

A masters’ degree is required. A CPA designation and/or extensive professional accounting experience is required.


Qualifications or Experience Required:

Teaching

Applicants must demonstrate strong experience teaching college or university-level introductory, intermediate or advanced financial and managerial accounting. Applicants must demonstrate some experience with curriculum development and creating and administering assessments. Applicants must demonstrate competency in case teaching, case exam writing, and case-based exam assessment. In-class contribution is a significant portion of Ivey’s course assessments, and as such, demonstrated strength in the equitable and rigorous assessment of student oral contribution to class discussion is required.

Service

Service expectations will be commensurate with rank. Service includes roles and responsibilities to the Managerial Accounting and Control area group, Ivey Business School, Western University, CPA Ontario and/or CPA Canada, among others. Service experience in both internal and external capacities will be considered.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and administrative staff within the Ivey Business School and the broader university community. Consideration of applicants will focus on qualifications, professional experience, interpersonal skills, and the ability to contribute to teaching and leadership. The successful candidate will exhibit strong communication abilities, cultural competence, and the capacity to foster positive relationships across diverse groups.

Disciplinary Group Profile: Ivey's Managerial Accounting and Control (MAC) Area Group comprises Diane-Laure Arjalies, Nadine de Gannes, Kun Huo, Jessica Kelly, Yi Luo, Vaughan Radcliffe, Yaqi Shi, Matthew Sooy, Mitch Stein, Chris Sturby, Steve Wu, and Di Yang. Most of the area group is research active, with publications in top journals in Accounting, Management and Organization Studies. Methodological approaches include behavioural experimental methods, and qualitative methods including field-based (i.e. ethnographic), interview-based, and archival research methods. Areas of research interest span social and environmental accounting, employee motivation and incentives, executive compensation, business ethics and governance, accounting policy and regulation, accounting history, among others. Given the diversity of methodological and topic interest, MAC area group members collaborate within the group and with colleagues at Ivey and Western University.
