Position Profile:
The Ivey Business School at Western University, London, Ontario seeks candidates for up to seven full-time limited-term teaching positions at the rank of Lecturer in the Business Foundations program. The ideal candidate will possess one of the following: four-year honours (HBA) degree in commerce/business administration, a discipline-appropriate MSc degree, or an MBA degree. Experience and familiarity with the case method is required. The Limited Term appointment positions will be for two years, beginning in early May 2027 and ending in early May 2029. Successful candidates will be required to attend paid training on a full-time basis in May and June 2027.
Academic Expectations:
Successful candidates will be expected to teach three sections of either Business 1220E, Business 1299E, or Business 2257, or some combination thereof, during the winter and/or summer academic sessions in each of their two years. These undergraduate courses are student-centered, case-based, and developed and taught by the Ivey Business School for students across the University.
In addition to classroom teaching, Lecturers will be responsible for activities related to course delivery and administration, including curriculum and case development, preparation and grading of assessments, academic advising of students, management and recruitment of teaching assistants, participation in case competitions, and training and mentoring of new Lecturers, as required. Successful candidates will also contribute to the Business Foundations program through service activities such as teaching high school case classes, judging case competitions, and participating in other initiatives that support the program and the School. Vacation entitlements must be taken during July and August in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Qualifications or Experience Required:
Teaching
Successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of excellence, or strong potential for excellence, in university-level teaching. Applicants must demonstrate experience with the case method through either direct teaching using the method or extensive experience as a learner in varied case-based educational environments. Candidates should possess the ability to design and deliver high-quality learning experiences, assess student performance effectively, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a collaborative teaching environment.
Service
Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability and willingness to contribute to the academic community through service activities. Evidence of collaboration with colleagues, participation in curriculum or program development, mentoring of students or peers, involvement in outreach activities such as case competitions, or engagement in academic or professional service will be considered. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to supporting the educational mission of the Business Foundations program.
Interpersonal/Communication
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and administrative staff within the Ivey Business School and the broader university community. Consideration of applicants will focus on qualifications, professional experience, interpersonal skills, and the ability to contribute to teaching and leadership.
