Master Lecturer Position – Mechanical Engineering

Laurentian University

The School of Engineering and Computer Science in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Architecture at Laurentian University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the rank of Master Lecturer. The preferred start date is July 1, 2026*.

Applicants will hold undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related disciplines, e.g., Mechatronics Engineering) at the start date of appointment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions in Mechanical Engineering at the undergraduate level, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the school’s programs.

As a faculty member at Laurentian University, the successful applicant will also be a member of the Laurentian University Faculty Association (LUFA). Detailed information about working conditions is provided within the Collective Agreement between LUFA and Laurentian University, available at http://www.lufappul.ca. In addition to being actively engaged in teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to have an on-campus presence.

The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications:
- Hold at least a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Holding a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline is an asset.
- Satisfaction of eligibility requirements for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
- Experience in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level university courses in Mechanical Engineering.
- Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical and academic excellence.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive and vibrant academic and work environment.
- Ability to prioritize according to students’ learning needs, and possess a good rapport with students.
- Excellent communication skills in English. An active knowledge of both official languages (functional bilingualism) would be considered as an asset.

- A cover letter. The letter must also include one of the two statements about citizenship/resident status specified below.
- Complete and up-to-date Curriculum vitae, including a full list of publications.
- A teaching statement, which would contain a teaching philosophy, strategies for student engagement, etc.
- A statement providing evidence of incorporation of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) into teaching.
- Names and full contact information for three references.
