The Department of Educational Administration, Foundations and Psychology (EAFP) invites applications for a full-time 2-year term of Inclusive Education position at the rank of Instructor 1 level, commencing July 1, 2025 or on a mutually agreed upon date. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department of Educational Administration, Foundations and Psychology in the Faculty of Education has some 21 faculty members who perform research, service, and teaching responsibilities in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (PBDE), Master of Education (M.Ed.), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs in different areas of the Faculty. The Department offers courses in the following graduate concentrations: Inclusive Education, Educational Administration, Adult and Post-Secondary Education, Counselling Psychology, and Cross-Cultural, Sociological and Philosophical Foundations of Education.
This position in Inclusive Education is structured with 80% teaching and 20% service responsibilities. The primary teaching responsibilities will be in the area of Inclusive Education. The successful applicant will be expected to teach 24 credit hours per academic year, equivalent to eight courses, that may be offered in fall, winter or summer, and in the day or evening. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a variety of courses including but not limited to: Inclusive Education, Promoting Responsible Behaviour in Educational Settings, and Strategies for Organizing Inclusive Classrooms and Schools. They will be expected to teach courses in the B.Ed. and the PBDE and prepare a course outline for each assigned course. Service responsibilities include participation in graduate student advising, and attendance at area group, departmental, and faculty meetings. Salary will be commensurate of qualifications and experience.
Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred, in Inclusive Education or a related area. The successful applicant must show evidence of having taught effectively at the university level and have background and experience teaching students with exceptionalities. The applicant must have expertise, demonstrated by experience, teaching, and/or scholarship, in the area of Inclusive Education, particularly as it relates to the K-12 school system.
In addition to the above, the following assets will be considered preferred:
• Experience with on-line course teaching and design
• A record of scholarship in academic or professional publications and/or conference presentations
• Familiarity with approaches in Inclusive Education such as universal design, differentiated instruction, and self-regulated learning
• Experience with new technologies in teaching
