POSTING FOR TWO FACULTY POSITIONS IN SPORTS ADMINISTRATION

Laurentian University

The School of Sports Administration in the Faculty of Management at Laurentian University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for 1) a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, and 2) a Limited Term Appointment (potential to be converted into a Full Time Master Lecturer teaching position)*. While a broad expertise across all sport business sub-disciplines is preferred, there is a need for one of the positions to be able to teach at least one of analytics, finance, or innovation and technology. These positions represent exciting growth opportunities for Canada’s premier sport business program. The preferred start date for both positions is July 1, 2026, but a later start date could be negotiated.

Assistant Professor candidates must have completed a PhD degree by the start date of the appointment and relevant experience can be an asset. PhD (ABD) candidates may also be considered. The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications and attributes:
• A degree in business, sports management, or related field
• Evidence of the ability to effectively teach at the undergraduate level and a commitment to pedagogical and academic excellence, promoting a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment, and advancing Laurentian University’s bilingual and tricultural mandates
• Evidence of very good research and scholarship with the potential to work collaboratively with colleagues, secure funding support and build internal and external interdisciplinary or intersectoral collaborations
• Commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive and vibrant academic and work environment.
• Experience with experiential learning or industry-relevant work experience

Master Lecturer candidates must have completed a Master’s degree by the start date of the appointment and relevant experience can be an asset. The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications:
• A degree in business, sports management, or a related field

In addition to active engagement and participation in teaching and research, the successful candidates will be expected to make contributions through service to the School, Faculty, University, and broader community. An on-campus presence is required.

The School of Sports Administration (SPAD) is a recognized source for socially responsible sport business leaders. Our mission is to develop and prepare future business leaders for the sport industry through an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, industry integration, experiential learning, and innovative scholarship. SPAD is one of two business schools in the Faculty of Management at Laurentian University and, having just recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the program, is renowned for producing graduates who have shaped sport in Canada, North America, and globally for over half a century.

SPAD currently only offers the Honors Bachelor of Commerce (Sports Administration) degree in English at the undergraduate level. However, plans are in place to launch a graduate-level degree, and other opportunities also exist at Laurentian University for colleagues who wish to teach at the graduate level, in other disciplines, or in French. Our undergraduate program emphasizes experiential learning and industry-specific skill development.

Laurentian University, located on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek territory in Sudbury, Ontario, serves over 8000 students and is one of two bilingual universities in the province of Ontario. • A statement of current and prospective research interests (not required by Master Lecturer candidates, but would be considered an asset)
