Family Medicine–Full-Time Faculty Positions    Primary Healthcare Research Unit, Discipline of Family Medicine Memorial University of Newfoundland www.mun.ca/medicine/familymedicine/

The Discipline of Family Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Primary Healthcare Research based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. This position is eligible for promotion and tenure as per the Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association (MUNFA) Collective Agreement related to strong performance in teaching, research, scholarship and academic service  This academic appointment provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to advance a program of research while contributing to education, leadership, and scholarly activities within Primary Healthcare. The start date is negotiable, subject to approval.

Academic responsibilities include research leadership and scholarly contribution in the area of Primary Healthcare within the Discipline of Family Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine. Priorities for this position include advancing research in aging and elder care, chronic disease, health equity, lifestyle-related health, complex patient care, and health services. Faculty development in research methods (qualitative and/or quantitative), support for resident and faculty scholarly activity, and curriculum development in research training are key components of this role. Experience in health economics or health policy research will be considered a strong asset.

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a field relevant to primary healthcare research. Candidates with an MD and additional graduate-level research training (e.g., MSc) will also be considered, provided they have a strong academic research background; however, this full-time academic position does not include funding for clinical work. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of primary healthcare research and be eligible to receive funding from major Canadian health research funding agencies.
