We acknowledge these are the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anisininew, Ininiwak/Nehethowuk, Oceti Sakowin/Dakota Oyate, and Michif (Métis) Peoples. This territory is also a place of significance for the Denesuline and the Inuit, some of whom have been living here for generations.

The Faculty of Education offers a five-year integrated Bachelor of Education (BEd) program, a two-year after-degree BEd program, Access (teacher) Education programs, a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Studies, a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (PBDE) for in-service teachers, and a graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy.

This position will primarily teach within the Access Education programs. Our Access Education Programs are designed to provide academic opportunities for Indigenous and racialized persons, people with inner city experience, as well as single parents, mature students, and newcomers. The Access Education programs include the Winnipeg Education Centre Program (WEC), the Community-based Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (CATEP), the Immigrant Teacher Education Program (ITEP), Ozhitoon Onji Peenjiiee or the Build from Within (BFW) Program, and the Indigenous Knowledges Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (IKPBDE) Program.

In addition to evidence of exemplary teaching and effectiveness, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate collegiality and contribute meaningfully to program development, faculty initiatives, university governance, and community engagement.

A strong foundation in pedagogy is essential including knowledge of direct and indirect instructional methods, inquiry-based learning, assessment practices, classroom management, and current research on pedagogical innovation in education. The ideal candidate will have experience in some of the following areas: universal design for learning; global competencies; Indigenous ways of knowing, languages and cultures; curriculum theory and curricular reform; familiarity working with diverse learners including students with disabilities; and culturally responsive, proactive, and preventative approaches to supporting students and their families. Interdisciplinarity is welcome.

We invite applicants who bring the skills, knowledge, and dispositions to support the development of professional educational standards, promote developmentally appropriate practices, and demonstrate a strong commitment to preservice teacher preparation.
