The School of Integrated Health at the University of New Brunswick Saint John invites applications for a scholar focused on interdisciplinary health at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2026 or a mutually acceptable date thereafter. This position is subject to budgetary approval.
UNB's Integrated Health Initiative (IHI) is a comprehensive program that focuses on undergraduate and graduate health education and research, social innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration (https://unb.ca/integrated-health/). As part of the School of Integrated Health, the Bachelor of Health program offers interdisciplinary courses and three majors: Biomedical Sciences and Health, Society and Health, and Management in Health (https://www.unb.ca/saintjohn/health/). Students in all majors are required to take courses focused on issues related to Indigenous health. In addition to the potential for interdisciplinary collaborations at UNB, the successful candidate(s) will be encouraged to partner with the Saint John Indigenous Health Advisory Circle, Horizon Health Network (including the adjacent Saint John Regional Hospital), and Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. Established relationships with Indigenous Health Initiatives such as the Wolastoqey Tribal Council would be an asset.
The successful candidate will contribute to the School of Integrated Health, specifically the Bachelor of Health and graduate programs focused on interdisciplinary health. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses that include content relevant to interdisciplinary health, such as courses in public health, community engagement, healthcare management, and determinants of Indigenous health. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop courses in their area of expertise and contribute to undergraduate and graduate research and experiential learning projects. The successful candidate will be encouraged to maintain an externally funded program of research.
Building expertise in Indigenous health is a priority for our School. Hiring a candidate with such expertise to this position is not mandatory but would be a great asset. Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) candidates are encouraged to apply for this position and must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in any area related to health, including Public Health, Health Policy, Healthcare Administration, Gerontology, or Interdisciplinary Health; a PhD or equivalent is strongly preferred. Non-Indigenous candidates must a PhD, or equivalent, in one of these disciplines and will be given priority consideration if they have expertise in Indigenous health.

The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022-2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.
