Term-Appointment Assistant Teaching Professor
The Department of Engineering at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus,
invites applications for a 10-month term position at the rank of Assistant Teaching
Professor beginning August 03, 2026. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The University of New Brunswick respectfully acknowledges that its Saint John campus sits
on unsurrendered and unceded traditional Wolastoqey land. The lands of Wabanaki
people were recognized in a series of Peace and Friendship Treaties to establish an
ongoing relationship of peace, friendship and mutual respect between equal nations.
The river that runs by our university is known as Wolastoq, along which live Wolastoqiyik,
“the people of the beautiful and bountiful river.” Wolastoq is also known as the St. John
River.
The department offers a 2-year diploma program in engineering foundations with
specializations in chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, and
software engineering. The department offers a 4-year degree program in
environmental engineering that began in Fall 2023. Also, the department is looking
at expanding its offerings through teaching graduate courses toward the Master of
Engineering in systems engineering. Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D.
in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline. Preference will be given to
candidates who have obtained a P.Eng. or who are eligible to do so. Responsibilities
include the preparation, supervision and delivery, fully or partially, either in
classrooms or any alternate delivery method of the following courses: CMPE 3222,
ECE 2021, ECE 2214, ECE 2711 and ECE 2722. The ability to teach 1-2 courses in an
area other than electrical, will be an asset. UNB Saint John has a strong commitment
to teaching and the successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in
teaching engineering courses.
The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of
University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2025 - 2029 Collective Agreement.
