Applicants should hold a doctorate or be close to the completion of this degree. The disciplinary background of the candidate may include psychology, cognitive science, educational psychology, learning sciences, or a related field with a clear focus on learning and instruction. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research agenda has a focus on improving learning and teaching in schools, addressing learning and instruction in the classroom, and in tiered interventions for students struggling to acquire academic skills. The individual’s research and teaching should have a focus on a specific area of student learning, with priority given to applicants in the scientific studies of instruction for elementary students’ reading acquisition. Excellent candidates with a research focus on the scientific studies of instruction for elementary written-language composition or mathematics learning will also be considered. Experience teaching in elementary schools is preferred and teaching experience in bachelor of education and graduate education programs would be an asset.
Workload includes teaching, research, and collegial service. Candidates should demonstrate an outstanding potential for research, teaching, and graduate supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate (BEd) and graduate levels. Please visit https://www.msvu.ca/en/home/employmentandcareers.
