The School of Nursing in the College of Arts, Social and Health Sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) is actively seeking a candidate for an Assistant/Associate professor. The position of Assistant/Associate Professor offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a creative and energetic nurse educator/ scholar to operationalize a new BScN Program located in Fort St. John, British Columbia. The Assistant/Associate Professor will be an integral part of a dynamic team involved in the development and implementation of an innovative, vibrant Nursing program at one of Canada’s leading undergraduate universities. The ideal start date would be January 1, 2020 but a later start date is also possible.

The successful applicant for the position will be a Ph.D. prepared Registered Nurse. Applicants who are close to Ph.D. completion will be considered. Applicants with a combination of research, teaching and clinical nursing practice experience, who have demonstrated current clinical expertise are sought.

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include: development and delivery of courses that comprise a full generalist nursing curriculum; research and scholarship (active and developing) that build on strong community and health service links with the Northern Health Authority; and varying degrees of program coordination (includes policy and leadership development). The candidate will have the opportunity to teach in multiple modalities. Applicants will be required to present evidence of research, teaching and practice excellence demonstrating their areas of interest and expertise. Practice experience in rural/remote, northern, and/or indigenous community settings and experience teaching using mixed modalities are distinct assets. Strong organizational and teamwork skills, as well as high-level communication skills, are essential. Current BCCNP registration is required. Travel to other campuses and northern communities will be necessary, and a valid BC driver’s license is required.
