The Faculty of Business & Information Technology invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Management Information Systems effective July 1, 2020.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be near completion of their doctorate in Management Information Systems or a related discipline. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated teaching potential in Business Analytics and Enterprise Data Warehouses. The candidate will also be able to teach other subjects in our Technology Management majors such as Internet of Things, Design Thinking, Business Application Development, Cloud Services and Emerging Trends in IT. Teaching experience with experiential learning methods and Business Technology Management programs is preferred.
Applicants should possess a strong academic background and an established record of excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications. Candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.
The successful applicant will be expected to engage in leading-edge research with colleagues and students at the intersection of Business and Information Technology, and will have the opportunity to supervise graduate students in the shared Masters and PhD programs at Ontario Tech University. The Faculty of Business and IT has research labs in Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, Networking, Human Machine Interaction, Game Development, Virtual Reality, Health Informatics, Security and Artificial Intelligence.
The successful applicant will be expected to engage in leading-edge curriculum development using the latest commercial products such as S/4 HANA and SAS Viya as well as open source applications such as Python, Cloud Foundry or Neo4j for example. Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials or workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations.
The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Teaching 40% Research and 20% Service workload each year.
The Faculty offers honours undergraduate degrees in Commerce as well as in Information Technology, with specializations in Technology Management. We offer the Master of IT Security (MITS) degree. MSc and PhD programs in Computer Science are offered jointly by the Faculties of Business and IT, Engineering and Science. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Ontario Tech Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association.
