Department of Chemical Engineering

Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a 3-year Limited Term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence as soon as it is filled.

The Department offers an accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree as well as MSc degrees in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering and participates in PhD programs in Biotechnology, Chemistry and Materials Science, Forest Science on campus. The successful candidate will teach three full-course equivalents (six half-credit courses) per year. The Course assignments will cover chemical engineering undergraduate and graduate level courses, including Unit Operations Laboratory, Laboratory Investigation in Mass Transfer and Separation; Reaction Engineering and Process Control Laboratory, and undergraduate technical electives and graduate level courses at the successful candidate’s expertise.

The preferred candidates will have:

1. An earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline in all areas of chemical engineering with particular interest in the area of chemical engineering materials. A baccalaureate degree in Chemical Engineering is required and post-doctoral or other relevant experience is an asset; and

2. A demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and evidence of an effective and established teaching record and of educational leadership.
