The Faculty of Health Sciences has an opening for one full-time, 2 year term position as Instructor in our undergraduate Therapeutic Recreation program. The Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation is a post-diploma and after-degree program that started in the Fall of 2015. The Faculty has a dynamic and collaborative teaching and research culture. The degree will provide course work, practicum experience, and faculty advising that meets requirements for eligibility for CTRS certification by the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation. The Therapeutic Recreation program has been developed to meet the Committee on Accreditation of Recreation Therapy Education (CARTE) standards. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in teaching courses in Therapeutic Recreation and experience with internship coordination. The position will commence August 1, 2019.
A Master’s Degree in Leisure/Recreation Studies or Therapeutic Recreation or related discipline. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by date of appointment. Be appropriately credentialed for one (1) or more year(s) and have a minimum of one (1) year of direct service delivery in Recreation Therapy.
The Faculty of Health Sciences currently offers undergraduate and graduate education. Undergraduate programs include Aboriginal Health, Addictions Counselling, Nursing, Public Health and Therapeutic Recreation.
