Research Associate, Arctic Climatology

Research Associate – Arctic Climatology, Ocean-sea ice-glacier-atmosphere coupling and Extreme weather

We are seeking a highly motivated research associate to study Arctic climatology, ocean-sea ice-glacier-atmosphere coupling and extreme weather. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. David Barber with direct collaborations with Dr. Julienne Stroeve and Dr. Dorthe Dahl Jensen. The successful applicant will conduct independent research on aspects of Arctic climatology, ocean-sea ice-glacier-atmosphere coupling, extreme weather, (including field deployments, equipment maintenance, data Q and A, analysis, and reporting in the peer reviewed literature); Collaborate closely with other disciplines within CEOS (including physical and biological oceanography, glaciology, sea ice geophysics, biogeochemistry, etc); Explore linkages between sea ice variably and the Greenland mass balance in Baffin Bay; Participate and conduct research within the Sea Ice Prediction Network (SIPN); Participate in field programs in Hudson Bay, James Bay and or Foxe Basin; Supervise field technical support, graduate students and undergraduate students; Publish and present research related to above; and Other duties as required.

Applicants must have a PhD in in the related fields with excellent communications and organizational skills.
