Tenure-Track Position, Health Policy and Management

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Health Policy and Management Area. The position will commence on July 01, 2022. Appointment rank (Assistant or Associate) will depend on qualifications and research record.
The Health Policy and Management Area at the DeGroote School of Business is committed to excellence in research and teaching. The School offers several programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Health Policy and Management Area participates in these programs in several ways, including specializations in Health Services Management (as part of the MBA program) and Health Management (as part of the Ph.D. program). The Area is also involved in several collaborative interdisciplinary graduate programs across campus (e.g., eHealth, Global Health). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research and scholarship through publications in high-quality journals, participate in national and international academic conferences, have the ability and willingness to supervise graduate students, and contribute to the Area and Faculty by taking on leadership roles. Preference will be given to candidates who conduct interdisciplinary healthcare research utilizing quantitative and/or mixed methods. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the School’s academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations, and support the School’s initiatives within the business community.
1. A Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management (or related field) from an accredited institution by the time the appointment starts.
2. Evidence of a high level of scholarly work published in peer-reviewed journals or the potential to establish a strong scholarly record.
3. Evidence of teaching excellence or the potential for teaching excellence. Candidates must be able to teach in at least one (preference will be given to candidates who can teach in more than one) of the following areas:
- healthcare finance and accounting;
- health human resources and healthcare leadership;
- healthcare marketing and consumer behaviour; and
- strategic management and communications in healthcare.
