An innovative scientist of international standing in translational cardiac computed tomography (CT) research is being sought by Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Departments of Medical Imaging and Medicine at Western University. The Chair is expected to undertake research related to the development of advanced functional cardiac CT imaging with a focus on advancing early diagnosis and clinical care. Expertise in other cardiac imaging modalities, including MRI, echocardiography, and nuclear medicine, would be considered an asset. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a productive research program with the goal of improving patient health. The term of the Chair is five years, renewable.

We invite applications from outstanding investigators with a strong record of multi-disciplinary collaboration, clinical translational research and sustained high levels of research productivity. Qualified applicants must hold an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree.

A successful candidate holding an MD or MD/PhD will be appointed in a continuing (Clinical Academic) appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario in accordance with the appropriate licensing body and must be certified, or eligible for certification as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources: fee for service, alternate funding plan, and academic support. The candidate will have protected research time and be appointed in the Department of Medical Imaging and/or the Department of Medicine in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry with a potential cross appointment in an appropriate basic science department.

A successful candidate holding a PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field will be appointed in an appropriate basic science department at the level of Associate Professor (tenure-track or with tenure) or Full Professor (with tenure) depending on qualifications and experience, with a cross appointment in either Medical Imaging and/or Medicine depending on interest, qualifications and experience. Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The London Health Sciences Centre Cardiac Care Program is the largest and most established cardiac centre in Southwestern Ontario. All members of the program are actively involved in providing inpatient and ambulatory cardiac care, providing a full range of ambulatory clinics and diagnostic cardiac services to the City of London and a population of over one million in the surrounding region.

Western University is world renowned for medical imaging research and training. As well as clinically available facilities at London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London, research dedicated medical imaging equipment and infrastructure is available at Lawson Health Research Institute and Robarts Research Institute. Specific to CT, a GE Revolution scanner is available at St. Joseph’s Health Care London, while a research-to-clinical translation platform in cardiac CT is being established through the installation of a dedicated research AQ ONE Genesis CT unit at Robarts Research Institute along with five equivalent systems across London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London.
