Two Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Accounting

The Department of Accounting in the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions. The positions (subject to university budget approval) are at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The proposed start date is July 1, 2020.
The successful applicant will have strong research credentials. The candidate must also aspire to be an outstanding teacher with skills required for our professional accounting program at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in hand or nearing completion. A professional accounting designation is desirable. While all areas of specialization will be considered, the department has a need for teaching expertise in Accounting Information Systems and Management Accounting. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, applicants must indicate Canadian citizenship or status as a permanent resident of Canada, as these candidates will be given priority. The Sobey School of Business
Saint Mary's was founded in 1802 and has a rich history. Saint Mary’s is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, close to downtown and all the amenities providing an excellent quality of life. Halifax is widely regarded as the Atlantic Canada centre of education, health care, commerce and the arts. The Sobey School of Business has 80 full-time faculty members and an enrolment of 2,600 students pursuing undergraduate, master, and doctoral degrees. The Sobey School is the largest and most comprehensive business program in Atlantic Canada and is accredited by AACSB and is a signatory of PRME. Planning for PhD program expansion into Accounting has been approved by the University Academic Planning Committee. The Department of Accounting has 16 full-time faculty members. Faculty research spans a range of topics and methodologies including behavioural experimental, archival, qualitative and field-based approaches. What we offer
We are offering two tenure-track faculty positions. Salaries are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Saint Mary’s also offers a wide range of employee benefits in addition to salary. Saint Mary’s offers start-up benefits such as funding for research, reduced teaching load in the first two years after appointment and may continue if externally funded, e.g., SSHRC grant. The Sobey School offers a manageable number of course preparations, especially in support of new hires.
