Assistant/Associate Professor in the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

The Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE) Department at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) wishes to hire an indeterminate English essential faculty member with an expertise in chemical engineering at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline at the time of hiring, which is planned for the Fall of 2022. Post-doctoral research experience or relevant industrial equivalent in chemical engineering or a related field would be an asset. Eligibility to be registered as a professional engineer in Canada is required. A professional engineering or engineer-in-training license in Canada would be an asset, while candidates without a Canadian engineering license are expected to obtain it as soon as possible.

The successful candidate is expected to:

1) Develop an independent research program that can capitalize on the resources of the CCE Department. Additionally, a research program that preferably includes collaboration with the CCE Department, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), the Department of National Defence (DND), and industrial contacts.

2) Teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the CCE Department. An undergraduate degree in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline, recent teaching experience at the university-level, and the ability to teach in French would be assets. The candidate is expected to supervise MASc, MSc, and PhD graduate students as well as professional/technical research staff.

3) Make contributions through service to the CCE Department, the Faculty of Engineering, the University, and the broader community. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a university environment is essential.

The RMC is Canada’s largest federal university and is a bilingual teaching and research institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs in the social sciences and humanities, sciences, and engineering to members of the CAF and to civilians. The CCE Department is one of the largest at the RMC and offers a vibrant and cooperative teaching and research environment with both civilian and CAF Faculty. The CCE Department offers B.Sc., B.Eng. (accredited), M. Eng., M.A.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees. The CCE Department has an active research program with more than 60 researchers funded by over $6M from various sources, and operates an extensive suite of analytical equipment and resources.

• If applicable, university-level teaching evaluations;
• Sample of peer-reviewed scientific contribution (up to three publications);
• Proof of university degrees (and if applicable, Canadian equivalency);
• Proof of citizenship;
• If applicable, proof of Canadian military service; and
• Full contact information of three persons able to provide a professional reference.
